Bethel Website Guidelines and Tips

Below you'll find a couple of tips from PA Job's Daughters that you might want to consider in your local site design. If you're looking for HTML resources or coding tips, a variety of helpful sites out there are dedicated to that purpose... run a search on your favorite search engine for the name of the code command you're trying to use, or just search for "HTML reference."

The following tips are design tips... suggestions on how to make your site look good and communicate well. Some are specific to Job's Daughters sites, most aren't. These are guidelines, and are not binding on Job's Daughters Bethel sites. Still, we hope all Bethels will strive for excellence in their web publications, and we think these guidelines are a good start. Be sure to read PA Job's Daughters official web policies as well.

1. Do involve active members - it's their website!

2. "Any web site is better than no website" - WRONG! A sloppy or out of date web site is worse PR than no web site at all

3. Do keep sites up to date. Changing content keeps visitors coming back.

4. You don't have to be a web wizard! A simple web site can still be a good web site.

5. Do choose a site provider that can assure you that all advertising "pop-up" windows and banners will be "family friendly" in their contents - "Bad Ads" reflect on us!

6. Spelling counts! Check your site for errors in spelling, grammar, and style - don't get caught looking unprofessional!
